Bali's underwater world

Tulamben at Bali's north coast is probably the most popular dive spot in Indonesia. Just 30 meters from the beach at Tulamben is a cargo ship wreck, broken up but impressive large. The 'U.S.A.T. Liberty' is 120 meters long, the top of the wreck is just three meters underwater, the bottom is at 29 meters. Experts estimate that some 400 species of fish live at the wreck. For an extraordinary most memorable dive we recommend a night dive at the wreck, especially around full moon.
Not far from the wreck is another dive spot, the Tulamben Wall. It is known for rare species and covered with large barrel sponges. Keen-eyed observers will find many interesting animals like ghost pipefish or beautiful colored nudi branches.

20 minutes away from Tulamben is Amed, a small fisher village. Here you can find the best hard coral variety of Bali as well as the best wall with a large number of fish and sponges. During the raining season (November to March) the visibility can drop under 5 meters.

Advanced divers who are not afraid doing a 'wild ride' should dive Gili Selang. Cool water, strong currents and untouched corals as well as sharks, turtles and large schools of fish are characteristics of this insider dive spot. Only a very few dive operators offer trips to Gili Selang.

Bali's east coast is after Tulamben the most popular dive area around Bali. Drift diving at Nusa Penida (20 different dive spots) with a good chance to see big fish, Gili Mimpang with its white tip reef sharks and blue spotted rays, Gili Tepekong's breathtaking underwater scenery, Bali's Mantapoint and finally the Blue Lagoon where we saw several times spotted wobbegong sharks.

The national park Nusa Menjangan is located at Bali's west coast. In earlier times NM was very famous for diving and snorkeling but now the variety of fish is small and reef tops are destroyed. From Kuta area it's a 4 hours car ride to NM, so we recommend this spot only within a dive safari.
